Customer Success Story

Running an academic conference means coordinating far more than a call for papers. For the 12º Congreso Anual de Economía y Políticas Públicas SobreMéxico, Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México needed the website, abstract submissions, peer review, registration, ticketing, and university-controlled payments to work as one connected experience—in Spanish.

Summary

PeerSubmit gave the organizing team one customized platform for the academic and attendee workflows, while allowing the university to collect bank-deposit payments directly and confirm registrations after internal verification.

About SobreMéxico & IBERO

SobreMéxico is an annual academic conference focused on economics and public policy in Mexico. It creates a forum for researchers, academics, students, and policy professionals to present evidence, exchange perspectives, and discuss questions affecting the country’s economic and social development.

The conference is organized by Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México (IBERO). For its 12th edition, the organizing team needed a digital experience that reflected the university’s academic standards while making it easier for participants to submit their work, complete registration, and follow the conference process in Spanish.

The challenge: connecting the complete academic conference workflow

From the participant’s perspective, a conference journey should feel simple: learn about the event, submit an abstract, receive a decision, and register. Behind the scenes, each step creates a different set of deadlines, records, and decisions for the organizing team.

The SobreMéxico team also needed the complete participant experience in Spanish. Authors had to be able to attach multiple files to one research record or create several distinct submissions in the same session. Reviewers and organizers needed a clear view of progress, while attendee orders and direct bank-deposit payments had to remain easy to track.

If those activities live in separate tools, organizers spend more time reconciling information and less time preparing the academic program. The goal was therefore not just a conference website, but one dependable workflow for both the academic and registration sides of the event.

One Spanish-language platform for submissions, review, and registration

PeerSubmit provided a dedicated Spanish-language conference site with customized event information, submission steps, and registration content. Participants could move from discovering the conference to submitting research or choosing a ticket without being sent across unrelated systems.

The abstract workflow collected structured information and kept each submission visible as it moved through review and decision stages. Authors could add multiple supporting files to one submission or create multiple separate submissions during the same session. For the configured workflow, PeerSubmit supported 64 file formats.

Registration used the same event foundation. Organizers could configure ticket categories, follow attendee records and orders, and separate confirmed registrations from payments that still required verification. This gave the team a connected operational picture without changing how the university controlled its funds.

What other university conference teams can learn

The 12º Congreso Anual de Economía y Políticas Públicas SobreMéxico shows that an all-in-one conference workflow does not require a university to surrender control of its payment process. The institution can keep its own bank-deposit procedure while using PeerSubmit to manage the registration status that follows.

It also shows why localization matters beyond translating a few labels. When the website, submission form, reviewer workflow, and ticketing experience use the language and structure expected by the conference community, participants encounter one coherent event rather than a collection of administrative tools. Available customizations depend on each conference’s requirements and should be assessed during planning.
