How to Set Submission Deadlines
Paige Watson
Updated on 10 March 2026Submission deadlines define the time window during which authors can submit their research papers to your conference. Setting clear submission and review deadlines helps organizers manage the review process efficiently and ensures authors know when submissions close.
In PeerSubmit, submission deadlines are configured in the Submission Settings section of your conference.
Open Submission Settings
To configure submission deadlines:
- Open your conference from the dashboard.
- Navigate to Call for Submissions.
- Click CFP Settings.
- Select Submission Settings.
This page allows you to define when submissions open and close, and when reviewers must complete evaluations.
Configure Submission Start Date
The Start Date & Time determines when authors can begin submitting papers.
- Select the date and time when submissions should open.
- Before this time, the submission portal will remain closed to authors.
Setting a clear start date ensures your Call for Papers launches at the correct time.
Configure Submission Deadline
The End Date & Time defines the final deadline for authors to submit their papers.
- Choose the final submission deadline.
- After this deadline, the system will automatically stop accepting new submissions.
Many conferences also announce submission extensions. If needed, you can update the deadline later from the same settings page.
Set the Review Deadline
The Review Deadline defines when reviewers must complete their evaluations.
- Choose a review deadline after the submission deadline.
- Ensure reviewers have enough time to evaluate submissions.
Program chairs can track review progress and ensure all reviews are completed before this date.
Save Your Changes
After configuring the dates:
- Review the selected submission and review deadlines.
- Click Save Changes.
Your Call for Papers will now follow the configured submission schedule.
Best Practices for Submission Deadlines
Setting realistic deadlines helps improve submission quality and review efficiency.
- Provide at least 4–8 weeks for paper submissions.
- Allow sufficient time for reviewers to complete evaluations.
- Announce deadlines clearly on your conference website.
- Plan buffer time for revisions and final decisions.
Well-planned deadlines help maintain a smooth and professional conference review process.
